La Pirogue has been built in the style of a traditional fishing village in 35 acres of lush tropical grounds. It lies on a mile long white coral sand beach fringing a shallow lagoon and is located on the west coast of Mauritius 35 km from the capital city of Port Louis. The airport is approximately an hour drive from the hotel.

The rooms at La Pirogue are housed in cottages, each cottage houses one Superior or two Standard guest rooms; there are also two Royal Suites, each in a more spacious cottage of its own. The guest rooms provide all the comfort and privacy one might wish for on a relaxing holiday. During the day, there is plenty to keep you entertained, choose from a wide range of complimentary water and land sports, for the more adventurous arrangements can be made for quad biking, karting and parasailing. There is a fitness centre and beauty institute at your disposal, located at the sister resort Sugar Beach just a short walk away. In the evening choose form the lavish buffets of Thatches to romantic dinners in the thatched pavilions overlooking the Indian Ocean. After dinner the Blue Bar is the place to be seen, featuring a disco and live entertainment.
